With over 25 years of franchise, business development, and strategic planning experience, Laurel (“Lori”) Israel Sturm, is a franchise attorney, adjunct professor in MBA Programs, speaker for franchise industry programs and organizations and serves as a trainer, career life coach, and franchise business consultant.  Today, through her company, eAdvantage4u, she provides entrepreneurial and franchise education and consulting, helping people explore business ownership.  She researches and suggests business models that leverage her clients’ talents, skills sets and education.  She shares her insights and provides direction to help them find the right business to reach their personal, career and financial goals!

Lori is a co-founder of FranBrokers, llc, a consortium of individual franchise broker companies to promote best practices.  Lori is also currently a Contributing Member and helped launch a new professional group for franchise professionals called the International Franchise Professional Group (IFPG).  She is also a former member of Franserve brokerage network.  She is Emeritus of the Central Ohio American Corporate Counsel Chapter Board.  Lori received her Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) Award from the International Franchise Association (IFA).  She participates as a member of the American Bar Association Franchise Forum and in the US and International Legal Symposiums.  She has worked her way up from staff attorney to general counsel for franchise companies including: Wendy’s, Rax Restaurants, Petland, Scotts Lawn Care, Red Roof Inns, and Steak Escape, among others.  She has taught in many central Ohio colleges and universities mba programs as well as speaking to business leaders about business and franchise ownership.  She is a graduate of the Leadership Columbus Chamber program.  She received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Small Business Administration of Columbus, Ohio.  Because of  her work helping people launch and grow their business, she was recognized by the Central Ohio TopCAT awards (Top Contributors to the Advancement of Technology) by Tech Columbus, a division of the Columbus, Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

Lori is a “people” person. She loves working with entrepreneurs and people “in-transition” to find the right business opportunity to reach their goals.  In her past role as legal counsel, she negotiated and drafted hundreds of domestic and international contracts, including single and multi-unit franchise and master franchise agreements.  She has first-hand knowledge of franchise disclosure documents.  She understands real estate and leases in addition to  site selection and construction processes.  Lori has formed numerous companies, has developed strategic business plans, has provided market and financial analysis, and has guided enterprises to achieve their financial objectives.

She is also knowledgeable regarding lending requirements, SBA financing, and debt restructuring.  Because of her past business and legal experience, she is well qualified to help guide you as you evaluate various franchise and business opportunities.  However, for specific legal advice, she will refer you to competent local franchise attorneys to assist you with any specific legal review to avoid any conflict of interest.
